New in TeleFinder/User 5.5 and 5.6
New features:
- "Command - delete" may be used to delete selected file icons.
- added support for various 56k modems.
- add support for read/unread labeling of email.
- add MacOS 8 style sorting backgrounds to folder windows.
- Chat window displays users entering and leaving the room in the text area. This data is also logged.
- Replaced Sysop Chat and Chat Room windows with new windows that support
drag & drop, copy & paste, resizing, colors, filtering, highlighting,
user profiles, and plaintalk.
- Added a new choice from the Chat menu called "Chat User Profiles". This
lets you modify the built in profiles and add profiles for users.
- Replaced the preferences window with an improved version, which is
easier to understand and expandable for future versions. There are
new preferences for adjusting the behavior of the chat windows.
- Added scroll key support to instant message windows
(pageup/pagedown/home/end)
- New Session Time window. Contains a graphical display of the time
remaining.
Changes:
- Change so that page keys work when displaying a text file
online as it is in the process of downloading.
- Changed name of preferences file in system folder from "TF Prefs"
to "TF User Prefs"
- Changed Session Time window so that it remembers position and state
better.
- Changed TF/User so that hanging up the call will not take longer than 30
seconds (happens if MacTCP or Open Transport fails to properly respond
to a close request).
- Changed the modem and serial support so that if setting the baud rate
to 115 or 230k fails, the connection will fail instead of blindly
falling back to a lower connection speed.
115 and 230 speeds do NOT work with the Creative Solutions Hustler card.
You must use the Creative Solutions port doubling software. These speeds
work only with the Keyspan card and some Macintosh models. (All PowerMacs
and some AV 68k Macs).
- Open Transport TCP/IP can now be selected on 68K Macs.
- Made default list views slightly wider to correspond to the widths used
in System 7.5.
Bugs Fixed:
- Fixed a bug with the scroll bar for the To field as a message is being
received.
- Fixed a bug that caused the Revert button to fail to turn on when
changes were made in the Preferences.
- Fixed a bug that caused TF/User to fail to terminate a 'locate a user' that
contained more than 250 entries.
- Fixed a bug in the Select Folder window that didn't work correctly with
remote volumes.
- Added missing date to the Topic Inbox list.
- Fixed a bug that caused the topic window to become garbled when reading
a local topic in conjunction with the Scan List window.
- Fixed a bug that cause the message field to have selection problems when
reading a topic in conjunction with the Scan List window.
- Fixed a bug that may cause a topic window have display problems when
selecting messages from the Scan List window.
- Fixed various bugs with AppleEvents support for scripting TF/User.
- Fixed a bug that cause TF/User to set a file as modified with a new file
comment even if the user only used the cursor keys and didn't really make
any changes.
- Fixed a bug that prevented Clean Up Window from working properly.
- Fixed a bug in b1 that caused Mail/Conf windows to work improperly with
text selections if the Session Time window was open.
- Corrected a bug that forced icons to draw at 16x16 even if an alternate
size was configured in the DESK resource.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the partial files database from accepting new
entries after it filled up.
- Fixed bug that allowed the instant message window to paste in multistyled
text despite the fact that styles are not supported.
- Fixed bug that didn't correctly save messages when using the Mail Outbox
or "Mail Later" buttons. It would sometimes save over the previous
message instead of creating a new message.
